Started Off Small

This house is in need of a DEEP clean. With my daughter starting kindergarten, I will be having more time to work on cleaning and doing things for myself. I want to try and get down to every inch of this house. Some places will be harder as I am short and our living room has a tall ceiling. I will be getting some help here and there for things. It will be a slow process to get everything cleaned. Everything will be amazing once done though!

Few things I do hope to get done is to go through my daughter's toys and organize them and maybe get rid of ones she doesn't play with without her knowing. I need to go through my things and organize and rid of some of my stuff too. Help my parents get things organized and up to them if anything goes. We both sometimes agree with just getting rid of everything and starting over, but over all know it's not the bed idea so we don't do it. I also would be too "lets sell it", if good condition, and she'd be "just throw it out", no matter the condition of it.

I get most of my cleaning tips from the internet/pinterest. Doubtful I'd have my own ideas for tips and tricks to help clean but I can share if those tips worked for me. What sucks is how many organizing tips won't work for this house because we don't have one of those big, open, lots of space type houses as you see these people blogging about. Guess maybe sharing these might give more realistic tips for smaller houses or just older houses. This house was built in like 1970. A lot of out of date things, like the carpet. This house won't become the most amazing house ever but I hope to get it cleaned and organized and work towards fixing the things that need to be fixed and help improve the house to look nicer. Some paint would do an amazing change if we can get around to painting.

I started off really small for my first cleaning as I did it when I didn't have much time to clean and picked something small. I organized and cleaned up our movies.

Forgot the very first picture so starting with progress picture. I wiped off the dust, rewound the VHS tapes, cleaned off smug marks on the DVDs, took down the tapes without cases, didn't put back up cases that were empty. As I put them back up, they were separated by company (ex. Disney, Dreamworks, etc) and then put in alphabetical order within those companies. Mostly did it to keep the Disney and Pixar movies together. I also wiped down the dust on the shelves. Might be able to add another shelve below them to add more movies because we have like another 2 boxes of movies, if anything at least get more of the Disney ones up.

After all was done, this is now it looks now.

All the other shelves are still dusty and need cleaning but having this little section cleaned, knowing they are smug free, the tapes are rewound, and in order, it just feels nice to look at.

Still more to do with movies, having those 2 boxes, have to decide what to do with those. Have to see if i can find cases or tapes/discs. I have a stack of DVDs to either buy new of or just part with. For now those are back in my room to be dealt with when I go to work on my room.
